Pandora, a paradise planet rich in unobatnium has become the most recent target of the RDA, a privately funded organization bent on mining expensive minerals from remote planets. Only Pandora is not as remote as they claim. A group of indigenous tribes called the Na'vi inhabit the Unobatnium rich paradise, halting the RDA's progress.
Various efforts to establish a well being with the natives has left the RDA impatient for valuable time and resources. In hopes of a smoother transaction, the RDA decided to fund an 'avatar' program in which Na'vi-like bodies would be created for a series of scientists in the hopes of making progress. But the project turned up short and the humans have continued to press into sacred Na'vi territories.
With the most recent destruction of a Na'vi sacred ground to construct a Unobatnium mine, the Na'vi have taken hostile attitudes towards humans and avatars; both are to be killed without a second thought. Many Na'vi losses have made the natives bitter, causing them to push for rasher actions. With negotiations strained the only path now is the destruction of one side.
The war has begun.
